Sabre and Microsoft on the cloud

Sabre Corporation is accelerating its strategy to re-imagine the travel industry and has announced a long-term strategic agreement with Microsoft. Under the new agreement, Microsoft will migrate Sabre’s business applications to Microsoft Azure. His expertise and Cloud development services will support Sabre’s willingness to focus industry evolution on sales, distribution and reservation processing issues.

« The Cloud is an opportunity to quickly innovate, create and deliver new business value to Sabre and its customers, » said Joe DiFonzo, CIO of Sabre. « Microsoft is more than a technology provider to us. Their team will be a major asset to our transformation, providing recognized leadership in cloud computing combined with industry expertise and sound methodology, and will help us realize our vision. »

The two companies will collaborate to better use the power of Sabre data and apply advanced artificial intelligence and analytics to create new services for its customers: hotels, agencies and airlines.

Sabre technology processes over $120 billion in travel expenses each year, and every minute its systems support thousands of travel agents, enable thousands of passengers to board and process hundreds of reservations.

By continuing to develop its Cloud strategy, Sabre will enable its customers to offer more personalized and integrated travel experiences – it is particularly important for Sabre’s innovation strategy to go beyond the NDC and provide next-generation sales and distribution solutions.

Microsoft Azure also provides Sabre with global reach, reliable infrastructure and advanced platform capabilities. Through this agreement, Sabre’s transition to the cloud will improve the stability and security of its products, and a multi-faceted cloud approach will enable Sabre products to intelligently distribute workload across geographic areas. This will improve performance and ensure continuous service availability.
